Thanksgiving Weekend

I had a good turkey day and learned something new.

The “Christmas” cookies I had been making were not Christmas cookies at all. They are actually St. Joseph Day cookies or I think they are also called zeppole. So next March 19th I have an offer to make zeppole with my Dad’s friend who owns a real Italian restaurant. This is the place that made my parents and every one attending their 40th anniversary feast. I actually lost cuount at how many courses there were.  So that made me feel good and happy.

I got to see the Bond movie too. Yes, there were many differences, some welcome, some not so welcome. But in all I would have to say that the movie has kept the franchise alive and there will probably be another Bond movie with Daniel as Bond, James Bond.  Was it the best Bond film in decades by my account? No. I t s not a clear and stand out winner on any of my lists, but it is worth watching.

Everyone always talks about their favorite James Bond as if the actor is solely responsible for the movie. The more I watch these movies the more I believe that each movie should be considered on its own merit and the actor playing Bond is just another element in the mix. For that reason I won’t tell you how I think he rates amongst the other Bond portrayers. I will say that it was not the worst Bond movie ever, neither the best.

Licence to Kill I think is my least favorite, with the least redeeming features. Thunderball and The Spy Who Loved Me are probably my favorites. Good villains, hot Bond girls, great writing, just all around good.

We also got to go to Dickens Christmas Fair. Its like we never left. Hoping we can go again soon as its much fun and frivolity.
